IMPORTANT
HEALTH
INFORMATION

June 13, 2022

Greetings Adams/Wilson Family.

As we are in our preparation & planning for another family reunion, my spirit has led me to write a

message in this ongoing season of COVID-19. Some of you may know of my career of 51 years as a

nurse, with 47 of those years in the field of hospital infection control and prevention. After 2 years of

retirement in Atlanta, I was blessed with the opportunity to return to work for the Cobb & Douglas

Public Heath as a COVID Case Investigator. During the past nearly 2 years, I spend my days working from

home, interviewing those with a positive COVID test. In this position I must stay informed of this disease

and protocols to prevent transmission. The recent increasing trend in cases and information of

outbreaks after large gatherings, has prompted me to send this note of the following suggested

precautions:

1. It has been shown that receiving COVID vaccines is the most effective way to prevent disease,

transmission, hospitalization and death. For those that are able to receive vaccine and have not,

please know that you are placing our little ones, who can’t receive vaccine and our elders, who

are at greater risk, in jeopardy of infection.

2. For those who have completed 2 doses of Moderna & Pfizer or one dose of Janssen (J&J), please

receive your booster dose as soon as possible.

3. For those who have received the first booster greater than 4 months ago and are 50 years and

older, please receive your second booster as soon as possible.

4. If anyone experiences cold, flu-like symptoms or excessive allergy-like symptoms anytime during

2 weeks prior the trip, please get tested as soon as possible. Please do not attempt attending if

you test positive or have symptoms. Once diagnosed there is a 5 day period of isolation (date of

first symptom is day zero) and a 5 day period of wearing a well fitted mask wherever you go, day

6 to day 10 (you may leave isolation on day 6, if fever is gone and most symptoms resolved).

5. If you are exposed to someone with COVID prior to the trip, you must watch for symptoms for

10 days following your last contact with the person (quarantine period) and wear a well fitted

mask at all times during the 10 days. You should also get tested 5 days after your last exposure.

It is best to avoid travel until a full 10 days have passed.

6. Other prevention strategies:

 Practice strict hand hygiene- frequent handwashing and use of hand sanitizer when you

are unable to wash hands.

 Consider wearing your mask during inside gatherings.

 Be extra careful 2 weeks prior to the trip to avoid potential exposure.

 If you have at home test kits, consider bringing them.

Please take all of this information seriously. We anticipate a great Family Reunion, as we strive for each

one to remain infection free at the close of our gathering. Please feel free to call me with any question

or log into CDC.gov/COVID.

Respectfully Submitted with Love & Blessings,

Audrey Adams, BSN, MPH
